Sergio is an original employee of Devil Mountain Nursery and has worked his way up through the ranks. Since joining the sales team in 1995 he has been a key representative. He understands the needs of Devil Mountain Customers because he helped design the company’s commitment to them. Sergio understands how to go from working the design plan to job completion with minimal problems. He is proud of the work he does which is evident by the number of customers who depend on him. Sergio is a big soccer fan; his favorite team is Cruz Azul.

Mark worked for his family’s business, Mayfair Wholesale Nursery in San Jose from 1978 until its closing in 1999. For 21 years Mark’s focus for Mayfair was purchasing as well as catering to the needs of the retail nursery trade. In 1999 Mark joined the Devil Mountain team adding his years of unique experience in finding the finest quality plant materials and providing the highest level of service with his high energy style. Mark is an expert in general nursery stock and a detail person, which are valuable qualities when organizing large landscape jobs. Mark has a great passion for singing and has made a number of karaoke-style CDs.

Leo started out loading trucks in 1997, and his hard work and keen eye for quality were recognized early. Leo became the nursery’s lead buyer and maintained Devil Mountain’s important ties to the West Coast’s top growers. Leo is known to ask lots of questions, because, as he says, “I do not like surprises when it comes to plants.” When not working with plants, Leo enjoys spending time with his wife of 10 years and their two boys, and is an avid soccer fan.

Brian’s experience in horticulture started in 2007 in the nursery department of Orchard Supply Hardware until 2010, when he was hired at Alden Lane Nursery as a member of the production team. Increasingly interested by the plant material he was stocking and watering, he began studying them. He also began working on smaller landscape designs and installations in his free time. Before long, Brian had worked his way up to running the tree department at Alden Lane, and he earned his CCNP in February 2016. Looking to spread his wings further, he applied to Devil Mountain Nursery in November 2016. Brian enjoys long walks on the beach, has a ridiculous sense of humor, and loves meeting new people.

A native of California, Leslie grew up in Southern California where in high school she took a horticulture class that sparked her interest. After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Horticulture with an emphasis in Sales and Service, she moved to Northern California and worked for Tree Haven Nursery in Gilroy. In 1989 Valley Crest Tree Company acquired Tree Haven and her career grew from here. Leslie brings over 30 years of experience and has a passion for sales and the many wonderful relationships she has formed over the years. She is known in the industry for her speedy service and attention to detail. Her favorite California locations she enjoys spending time with her husband Dan and their three daughters is Lake Tahoe’s West Shore, Sea Ranch and Yosemite.

Richard has been working in the Horticultural trade for 10 years, as a display merchandiser and customer service representative for both indoor and outdoor garden centers across Northern California. As a sales representative for various companies, he keeps close contacts within the industry, and great relationships with not only his customers, but also his industry peers. As merchandising manager for large scale retail nurseries, he is familiar with retail quality material, premium vendor information and hands-on customer service. He is an avid nature enthusiast and musician.

Hugo moved to the United States from El Salvador with his family in 1997, and that was when he entered the nursery industry. Having worked for different retail nurseries in the Bay Area in a variety of positions from stocking to sales, and eventually moving into landscape consultation, Hugo joined the Devil Mountain team in 2021. Hugo has enjoyed his time with Devil Mountain Nursery, and he values the relationships he has built with his customers. In his free time, Hugo loves to spend time with his family and friends, playing basketball or soccer, or just spending time enjoying the outdoors.

Graduating from UC Santa Cruz with a double major in Psychology and Biology, Alessandro has always enjoyed working with people, plants, and animals. He has helped to contribute to the Banana Slugs research studies at UCSC, as well as helping children afflicted with autism achieve their personal goals. After working in the tech industry for two years, he decided to take a break from technology and spend more time with people and nature. Alessandro loves his two dogs, Nala & Juanito, and hopes to one day open his own rare indoor plant shop called La Plant Petite.

Originally from Southern California, Faiza has always held a passion for the arts. She received her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts and Digital Arts from UC Irvine and hoped to pursue an environmental design career in film, music, or gaming. After moving to the Bay Area in 2019, she began shifting her focus to plants to further understand their composition. On this journey, she found a deep admiration and love for them and hopes to continue furthering her career in the industry. In her spare time, Faiza enjoys going to museums, farmer’s markets, and concerts.

Trisha is a Washington State native, and recently relocated to the Bay Area. I am a student at Las Positas College earning my AS degree in Horticulture. I have been gardening with my mom since I was a kid and found my passion for plants at school after taking my first horticulture class. 2 years later I have a personal greenhouse I built and operate myself and have been maintaining my gardens at home as well. I am learning something new every day and my end-goal is to reach the level of knowledge of a master gardener. In my free time I love to garden with my cat, Pumpkin, and spend time with my friends and family.

Ramiro lived in Elk Grove since the age of 8 and was raised on a ranch with horses and a nursery. He began working at Devil Mountain as a yard handler at the age of 20 in 2014. In 2015, he became a driver and then later promoted to Lead Driver in 2018. As a valuable and important member of the driving team, Ramiro has been promoted to dispatch in 2023. On his free time Ramiro enjoys spending time his family, camping and loves watching/playing soccer.

Haley is a Santa Rosa native and the daughter of a landscaper. She and her family love the outdoors, and she grew up fishing, hiking, and camping. Haley graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College with a degree in Horticulture with an emphasis in Nursery Management. For six years she worked in retail nurseries and at a wholesale floral company before joining the staff at Devil Mountain. Haley is excited to help customers retrieve what they need to make the world a more beautiful place. In her spare time, she loves to hike, fish, and visit local restaurants.

Omar has worked in the wholesale nursery industry since 2012. He has considerable experience in plant production and yard operations, having spent time as a driver, puller, loader, and in dispatch. He helped to construct the Petaluma nursery and became the Assistant Yard Manager before joining the sales team. Omar enjoys building relationships with customers and coworkers, and the fact that each day brings something exciting and new. Outside of work he enjoys family time, traveling, and visiting parks with his daughters.

Mary was born in Mexico and moved to the US as an adult. Mary has previously worked at a hotel and a senior center facility, and she began working at Devil Mountain in 2018 specializing in the receiving department, as well as the inventory specialist. Now you can find her in the office as a proud sales representative in the Wine Country region! Mary is happily married and has two beautiful adolescent children and one cat. In her free time she loves camping, going to baseball games, and exploring new places. Laura was born in Mexico but was raised in California, she became interested in working in a nursery because her mother worked in a small retail nursery in Santa Rosa. When she and her siblings were small, they would visit their mother when she worked on weekends, and when she moved to working in Devil Mountain she decided to learn about plants. Laura started working in January of 2018 as a puller, and then moved to Sales Support in 2021. Laura enjoys learning new names and things about plants. During her free time she enjoys going hiking, going to the beach, and spending time with her nephews.

Matt was born and raised in California’s Central Valley. He studied art in Seattle, WA and developed a passion for plants when he got his first job in a nursery 20 years ago. Matt joined the Devil Mountain team in 2014, where he helped build the distribution department in San Ramon that we still rely on today. Matt worked his way up to Yard Manager and helped establish the team in our Morgan Hill office and has played an integral role in the development of Devil Mountain. Matt admires the unique relationships that Devil Mountain has with our customers. Having a broad base of experience, he utilizes all his knowledge and experience to help organize and streamline projects from start to finish.

Amanda was born in Gilroy and raised on a small farm in San Martin. After graduating from Live Oak High School in 1999, Amanda focused on her career at Johnson Lumber/Ace Hardware working her way up to the accounting department. Amanda then transitioned to Johnson Garden Center when it opened in 2006. That is when she really discovered her passion for plants & enjoyed assisting customers with garden design. Her next opportunity was at a wholesale nursery where she expanded her management, growing and design skills. In 2013, Amanda began working as an office manager for a commercial landscape company before coming on board with Devil Mountain. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her wife Maria and their two French Bulldogs, Dayzee and Leela.

A Bay Area native, Renee has been a practicing landscape architect for 25 years. Renee spent many years designing public parks, schools, and trails before shifting focus to high-end residential design. She has also been involved in all aspects of landscape construction and maintenance, including a brief spell as the owner of a landscape makeover operation. A graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Renee brings her love of design and plants to Devil Mountain. She is finding that there are far too many interesting plants out in the nursery – and, as her family reminds her – there is no room for more at home. In her free time, she enjoys painting, knitting, and volunteering at a high sierra Girl Scout camp.

Melissa was born and raised in Gilroy. She has 25+ years’ experience in the horticultural business. She started working for a local nursery in 1990 as the color grower’s assistant and worked her way up to customer operations manager. She continued her career there for 19 years, until the business shut their doors in 2009. She took a couple of years off to be a stay-at-home mom, but then got the itch to go back to work. She started working for Garden product supply company in 2011 as an administrative assistant. She worked there for 7 years. She brings with her, knowledge in customer service, sales, HR, dispatching and is hoping to use that knowledge to have a successful career with Devil Mountain. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children, traveling, and watching her daughters play the sport they all love, softball. She is a diehard Dodgers and Raiders fan.

Gillian was born and raised in the northeast of England. After school, she worked in accounting and finance while studying for her professional qualifications. She earned her Chartered Global Management Accountant status and joined Philips Electronics as a Management Accountant in London. She and her husband relocated to Texas before moving to Morgan Hill in 2003. After raising her daughters, Gillian returned to the workplace as an associate for a wholesale nursery, fully indulging her love for all kinds of plants. Gillian brings her love of plants and her accounting and finance experience to Devil Mountain. She is excited to be part of the Devil Mountain team and provide her customers with an excellent experience. In her spare time, Gillian loves to garden and enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, especially hiking and paddle boarding.

Cristina was born and raised in Mexico then moved to California in 2000. She lived in Los Angeles and decided to make her way to Morgan Hill in 2003. A Southern California native, Mimi has fond memories of the lush citrus groves that surrounded her neighborhood. Mimi comes to Devil Mountain with a degree in Biology and more than two decades of customer service, buying and merchandising experience. Santa Cruz is where she makes her home and is delighted that her two children still live close by to her, her husband, and their cats. She has always had a love for plants and has gardened all spaces that she inhabited. In her free time, she curates the gardens at the seven-acre family compound, walking/hiking the beautiful beaches and Redwood forests of Santa Cruz County along with enjoying her family whenever they can gather.

Jeanette was born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA. She learned about plants from visiting the Santa Barbara Botanical Gardens & Lotus Land as a child with her dad, and was part of the FFA program in high school. In 2021 she left the retail automotive parts industry and joined the Devil Mountain team in Fillmore as Sales Support, where her knowledge of plants and landscaping continue grow every day. In the future, she hopes to further her knowledge by studying environmental horticulture. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her daughter and add to her collection of indoor plants.

Born and raised in Southern California, Rob started working with a landscape maintenance company and noticed an interest in plants and their botanical names. He started working at a retail nursery and found that he had a keen eye and deep interest in plants of all types, from succulents to deciduous trees and everything in between. Rob also has a knack for plant ID, which he developed while worked at that same yard for 10+ years, where he also cultivated relationships with customers and vendors and worked his way up into management. Rob is hard working, friendly, light hearted, reliable, and extremely knowledgeable with 12+ years of experience in the trade. Rob is also a proud coffee snob and avid road cyclist. You can find him on the roads of the Palos Verdes Hills, Santa Monica Mountains, or running around the nursery!

Tim was born in Arizona but has spent the bulk of his life in California, he has a degree in Horticulture and Plant Pathology and a long and varied horticulture career spanning decades; he has produced bedding plants, tropical foliage including anthuriums and bromeliads, he also has grown California natives and woody ornamentals. He enjoys interesting and different plant material that he grows in his landscape at home and in his small greenhouse, He loves to travel to warm exotic locales.

Julie has 20 years of experience working in the horticulture industry. She began her career in the landscape industry at a wholesale nursery in 2002. Her passion is mentoring her employees and passing on her knowledge of plants and excellent customer service skills. In her free time, she enjoys working out, cross fit, and spending time with her family.

David has been working in the horticulture industry since 1987. He first started his career working outside in the yard, making his way up to store manager for a local nursery in Southern California. After the nursery’s closure, David joined the wholesale landscape industry. Through many years of experience, he now shares a vast amount of knowledge with his fellow colleagues and clients. He enjoys educating others about plants and how to care for them. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, and camping. David plans on backpacking throughout the country once he retires.

Vicente grew up around the nursery business as his family has been in the industry for 3 generations. In high school, he expanded his knowledge in plants by volunteering at the nursery during his summer breaks. Vicente graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2018. In 2019 he returned as a full-time employee and has enjoyed learning a variety of roles within the horticulture industry.

Laura Orozco has been in the industry for about 10 years. With her vast knowledge of plants, she is passionate about helping landscape professionals complete their projects. Her reward is seeing all their finished work when driving throughout local cities, knowing that she contributed to creating a joyful environment. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs. She likes watching movies, concerts, and exploring new restaurants.

Raised in Southern California, Kevin brings to Devil Mountain an extensive background in the horticulture industry, having worked for multiple major wholesale nurseries. With an education in horticulture and strong background in sales and customer service, he is passionate about providing both a positive customer experience, and a dedication to continually strengthening his product knowledge. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys music (both listening and playing), travelling, camping, hiking, fishing and off-road ATV riding, and is an avid gardener.

After working in the fast-food industry for 3 years, Ally decided to take a turn and try something new. From learning herbal medicine at home to learning botanicals, Ally is eager to learn about various plant types as well as being able to distinguish them effectively. In her free time, Ally likes to play with her Schnauzer as well as going on walks, watching movies and reading.

Maria was born and raised in Mexico and arrived in California in 2000. She currently resides in Santa Rosa, California, and previously worked in a Retirement Community for 13 years as an Environmental Services Coordinator. In 2020, Maria moved to Southern California to join the staff at Devil Mountain in 2021. She began her career in Sales Support, then was later promoted to Dispatch. Maria is constantly learning, trying new things. She also really enjoys lending a helping hand whenever someone needs help. In her spare time, Maria loves to exploring new cities, cooking and spending time with her family.

He was recently brought into the Devil Mountain family to help with some new locations. Plant identification is something he enjoys and loves the challenge of. He relishes in the idea of team building and in his spare time loves to hang out with his two boys watching Lakers games.

After a graduate degree and many years of teaching, Mary decided that it was time to fulfill another passion of hers – horticulture. With an extensive background in customer service and project management, Mary combines her love of working with people with working around plants. Mary is fascinated by all things growing and has tended to an indoor jungle of her own for most of her life. When not buried in plants, you can find her drawing or rollerblading with her four-year-old pup.

Pedro started working in Oceanside when he was just 19 years old. He worked outside in the field for 2 years, planting everything from annual color to larger 15-gallon material. Soon after that he was transferred to the Carmel Valley location and has been a staple to the team ever since. He is interested in so many different species of plants, and to this day wants to keep learning.

Hector has a little over 2 ½ years in the nursery business and is still learning about plants everyday working at Devil Mountain. He started off his plant career with another local San Diego nursery until its closure in 2021. In his free time he enjoys traveling to different places around the city and listening to all types of music.

Before joining our team, Arelic worked for a flower arrangement company for several years, which she really enjoyed. Arelic also really likes learning new things and that’s why she enjoys working here – there’s never a shortage of new things to learn! Born and raised in the San Francisco East Bay, Tyler began his career in customer service at a Livermore Winery. After 4 years of volunteer work in New York he moved back to California and took his first position in the landscape industry with a Bay Area landscape maintenance company. He brings his experience to Devil Mountain, where he is excited to continue learning about the unique characteristics of native plants and trees and our beautiful environment. Tyler loves to travel and play golf, is a huge sports fan, and enjoys wine tasting, camping, and hiking.

Ana started her career in the landscape industry when she was just sixteen years old, and immediately fell in love with plants. She enjoys that her job is unique compared to those of her peers, and she also enjoys helping customers. During her free time, Sara enjoys playing guitar and singing, as well as spending time with her family and cat.

Vince was born and raised in California and is a 3rd generation nurseryman who, from a young age, grew up working on his family's rose farm. Vince attended Mount San Jacinto College where his focus was in Ornamental Horticulture. He continued his career working for a variety of well-respected nurseries in the industry until 2010 when he took a hiatus to pursue other opportunities. He is excited to have returned to his roots in the nursery industry. In Vince's time off he enjoys cooking and spending time with his kids.

A SoCal native, Richard started his career in Horticulture in 1996 at a retail nursery. After attending Saddleback College and working in both Retail and Wholesale nurseries, he has accrued over 25 years experience selling plants and trees, and developing long-lasting relationships with customers all over the greater Los Angeles area, Orange and Ventura counties, and up into the Central Coast. As a California Certified Nursery Professional, Richard takes great pride in his knowledge of Horticulture and embraces the high importance of his trade. He is an avid motorcyclist both on- and off-road. Richard has a passion for music, playing the drums, grows his own fruits and veggies, and loves being active with his wife and young son.

Taia is a Southern California native who has always loved being in nature and adopting (some say) too many plants. In 2021, she began her career in horticulture doing propagation at a nursery which specialized in carnivorous and unusual foliage plants. Now at Devil Mountain, she is expanding her plant knowledge every day and enjoying getting to know her customers and the landscaping industry.
